Veterans History Project

Become a Part of History with the Library of Congress

Are you a Veteran, Gold Star Parent, Gold Star Sibling, or a Gold Star Adult Child? Share your story with the Never Alone Initiative and help contribute to a national project to share and preserve the living history of our nation’s Veterans.

The Never Alone Initiative has partnered with the Library of Congress on the Veterans History Project. The project’s mision is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.

They do this by working with organizations and individuals to obtain the first person narratives in the forms of original unedited audio/video recorded interviews, photographs, letters, diaries, journals, military documents, two-dimensional artwork, maps, and unpublished memoirs from U.S. veterans who professionally supported war/conflict efforts.

These oral histories go on to be available for family members, researchers, and school children. They will tell the stories that history books and TV news can’t quite grasp; the personal ones. Learn more.
