Thanksgiving Greetings from Secretary Joey Strickland

BATON ROUGE – This month, during various Veterans Day celebrations, we gathered across our state and country to honor the nearly 18.5 million veterans living among us, in every state and territory and from every walk of life.

We have over 287,000 veterans living right here in Louisiana. Our country has certainly been enriched by their contributions, both in and out of uniform. We thank each and every one of you for the sacrifices you made, for your sense of duty, and for your service.

As we move into the Thanksgiving holidays, we will all be spending time expressing our gratitude for the many blessings we enjoyed and showing our gratitude for the sacrifices of those serving in uniform and their families.

We will reflect and give thanks as we take the time to come together during this season, and I wanted to personally take the time to thank you for your continued support of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) and its mission.

I also want to extend my personal gratitude to the entire LDVA team for your work that keeps our Louisiana veterans informed and helps them to obtain the benefits they earned.

Whether you have ever worn the uniform, are currently in uniform, whether deployed abroad or stationed here at home, it is your service and sacrifice that allows Americans to enjoy the blessings of Thanksgiving. We are very thankful for you, your families, and our communities that support us all.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Joey Strickland, Secretary

Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs
