Louisiana – 2017 GDX

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics released Geographic Distribution of VA Expenditures 2017. This report details VA expenditures at the state, county, and Congressional District level. It includes categories such as Compensation and Pension, Construction, Insurance, and Medical Care. Veteran population estimates and the number of unique patients who used VA health care services are also available.

The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits Division, which operates 74 parish service office locations, has made more than 186,000 contacts with Veterans, their dependents, friends, and families, and processed more than 126,300 of their claims during the past year. Working alongside veteran service organizations, LDVA helped bring in $1.3 billion a year in federal compensation and pension benefits in Fiscal Year 2016. These payments went directly to Louisiana Veterans and their dependents, who then spent this money in almost every town, city and parish around our state.

In FY 2017, Louisiana brought in $1,296,849,000.00 in VA compensation and pension to 284,074 Veterans and their families.
