ALEXANDRIA, La. (Walker Honda) – Employees and volunteers from Walker Honda in Alexandria Louisiana are joining more than 20,000 volunteers from across North America to participate in Honda’s third annual Honda Week of Service.
Walker Honda is one of hundreds of Honda dealers across the United States volunteering in their local communities during the second week of June to encourage support of local communities.
On Monday, June 11, Walker Honda employees and volunteers will travel to the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana to clean debris from gravesites, flowerbeds and around the cemetery grounds. Once all beds are clean, Walker Honda volunteers will then place individual United States flags on each of the of the 461 grave sites at the cemetery in honor of Flag Day on June 14th.
This is the first year that Walker Honda has participated in the national ‘HONDA CARES’ program.
“This is just another way for our dealership to give back to our local community and support our veteran community,” Misty Campbell, Finance Manager at Walker Honda and lead volunteer of the Honda Cares initiative said. “The people in this cemetery all sacrificed in one way or another for our country and this project is a small token of our appreciation for their service. We are very fortunate to have veterans on our staff and this was a great way to not only show our appreciation for them, but to the fallen soldiers as well. Walker Automotive has always been a strong supporter of our military community, Fort Polk and our veterans.”
“Through this coordinated week of volunteer projects across North America, we are joining Honda in reinforcing the Team Honda spirit of working together to make a difference in the communities where we live and work,” said W. Foster Walker, President of Walker Automotive. “Walker Honda and its employees are happy to volunteer to make a positive impact in the community we call home.”
