THIS FRIDAY: The Gold Star Mothers and Families Recognition Ceremony is this Friday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. For those unable to attend, in addition to the ability to watch the ceremony via Zoom, you can now watch via the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs’ Facebook page live on Friday morning.

Each year on the last Sunday in September, our nation pauses to remember the sacrifices made by its Gold Star mothers and families. On Friday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m., LDVA will hold a recognition ceremony to honor not only the fallen, but those they left behind. Please make plans to join us at the Gold Star Memorial Monument in the Louisiana Veterans Memorial Park in Baton Rouge.

Liberty Magnet High School JROTC Color Guard Team will present the colors followed by remarks from LDVA Secretary COL Joey Strickland. Louise “Gidget” McIntyre, Gold Star spouse and Navy veteran, will be the guest speaker.

If you cannot attend the ceremony in person, please feel free to join us via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_cOgy_KlJTcOYvVMa3RTkMQ. Registration is required. You can also join us via Facebook live on the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs’ Facebook page. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Director of Outreach Larry Williams at larry.williams@la.gov or 225.276.8626.
