#GivingTuesday: Military Family Assistance Fund

BATON ROUGE – Tomorrow, Nov. 27, is #GivingTuesday and the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) asks that you consider donating to its Military Family Assistance (MFA) Fund.

The MFA Fund can provide financial support to Louisiana veterans and their families when they experience financial hardships. Certain criteria apply. In order to receive funds through MFA, a completed application must be submitted to LDVA including all required supporting documentation. MFA can pay up to $10,000.00 per one claim within a twelve-month period.

In the past 18 months, LDVA’s MFA Fund has helped Louisiana veterans cover mortgage payments, utility bills, car payments, and even helped one disabled veteran get the adaptive equipment he needed installed in his truck so that he could regain his independence.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Here in the United States, it is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and helps kick off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

The MFA Fund is funded solely by private donations from generous individuals and corporations. Please visit LDVA’s How to Help page to donate to the MFA Fund and help us help veterans in need.
